Viagra has been on the market for years. It’s the only other drug approved to treat erectile dysfunction in men, and is available as an oral tablet. The company has been testing it on men with a history of low blood pressure.
“Our analysis of Viagra’s safety and efficacy has shown that it is not effective in men with mild to moderate cardiovascular disease,” the company said.
Viagra’s safety and efficacy has also been shown to be the main concern in a study conducted by Pfizer in 1998.
In this case, the company was concerned that it could cause side effects and the FDA would likely not allow the company to take Viagra on its own. Viagra, it seems, has a potential to be harmful for some men.
In a statement, Pfizer said that the company was “under review” for the safety and effectiveness of Viagra.

In response to the news, Pfizer said, “We are disappointed with the FDA’s decision to deny our application for Pfizer’s Viagra application.”
